About
Hello, googlers. My name is Susie and I’m 18 years old at the time of writing. Back in 2004 (when I was 14) deviantART had the Linspire Wallpaper Contest, and a special promotion where deviantART members could download their OS for free.
I punched in my promotion code, downloaded the OS, popped in the disk and installed it. I was then amazed to realise there was any other OS besides Windows or Mac. I started looking into my new Linspire computer, trying to see what it could do, and was heavily disappointed to find that I had to purchase all my software from their store.
More research on Linspire showed that there were tons of other OS’s like it, which were completely free even without a promotion code. I downloaded Debian, Gentoo, and Ubuntu. Problems arose burning the Debian disk at the time, and Gentoo’s live-cd console screen was far too intimidating.
I installed and became familiar with Ubuntu and used it up until late 2007/early 2008, when I installed Slackware 12.1. I’ve been using Slack since then, and it’s the best thing that’s happened in my computing experience.
This blog chronicles my adventures, experiences, and mishaps with my GNU/Linux operating system(s).

Wow really inspiring to see that someone so young is eager to jump into an alternative operating system especially when it’s not all click next and go, glad your enjoying linux.I went back to the good old windows because I found it (linux) never had enough support for my multimedia needs, glad your enjoying it though
